PROJECT INFO

Wel Jong Niet Hetero is for about two years active on the international level. In doing so, we get confronted with very different cultures and communities. Our society is rather tolerant towards LGB (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual) issues. This isn’t always the case in other parts of Europe and the rest of the world.

We’d like the Flemish youngsters of today to see that there is a need for solidarity with youngsters from other countries where there isn’t so much tolerance and acceptance. The project is based on the pillars of diversity and international. The project is financed by the Flemish Government with the project subsidies for nationally organized youth work.

The initiative will take place in schools, youth movements and student cities. These locations will be faced with testimonies, but also with debates, encounters between cultures and encounters between differences. The project will take place from 17th  till 22th of November.

To do this, Wel Jong Niet Hetero decided to turn a minivan into a living and riding room full of testimonies from another world in another world. These testimonies will be brought to our audience by LGB-youngsters from other countries, who work for their rights in their countries. Different countries, different cultures, different religions and different sexual orientations. All this will lead to different and interesting stories. These stories that will bring up questions. Youngsters can ask us these questions in our mini-van.

This mini-van will contain a lot of information. We will go to places where we can hold still. Our international visitors will illustrate there testimonies with video’s and photo-material. Whether we are in a school, on a square or in a youth house, everyone is welcome to visit us and ask questions.

Our international participants come from different parts of the world (Slovenia, Romania, Lebanon, Estonia).

There will also be a debate, and a city game during the project week!
